Saturdays
I love Saturdays. Saturday is probably my favorite day of the week because I get so much accomplished. Today Jerod and I headed into Shelbyville to pick up the dry cleaning, get hair cuts, and wash the new Jeep. We then headed over to visit Granny and then now we're working on accomplishing the tasks on our "to do" lists. I'm hoping between today and tomorrow I'll be able to get this quilt FINISHED!! WOOHOO!! It's been a lot bigger of a project than I ever imagined, but it's pretty awesome to look at the finished product and know that I've done it! I think I am adding a long-arm sewing machine to my wish list though just for use with quilts... because trying to get this thing quilted on my small machine was a nightmare!!! Well, better hop to it!

Oh My!
I am ashamed to see that I haven't been keeping up with this!! I knew that I hadn't been but wow... not posting in like six months is bad! Well, I have had this week off work since all the teachers don't take off this close to the holiday break. It's been good. Monday I literally did nothing and it kind of felt good. Yesterday though, is a way different story! I was cleaning by 8 a.m. and didn't stop until about 2:30! I also did so much laundry during that time. Now today I haven't had much to do since I did so much yesterday. I'd like to quilt my quilt, but I am waiting on the Dish dude to give us our new dvr receiver. Merry Christmas to us!!
Jerod and I decided that it's time to get rid of this "extra baggage" in our midsections! We're usually pretty good about being active but the last few months have really not been good for us. Jerod had a good excuse: shin splints. I don't: laziness. We decided that our New Year's resolution is going to be to lose some weight for our upcoming venture: Turks and Caicos!! Nobody wants to look like a fatty on the beach! We're going to start running on January Uno and it's going to be ROUGH starting. The last time that I ran and stuck with it I lost 20 pounds and looked soooo good that that is going to be my motivation. We are also signing up for another Warrior Dash, so that will keep me motivated too. I'd love to do a half marathon someday... but let's not get ahead of ourselves!!

P90X week 1
I know this should techinically be week 2 but I had an issue last week. Apprently reading is a good thing to do because I wasted four days doing the P90X program that bulks you up... not slims you down. Great right? Wrong. So I just walked last weekend (2 miles on Friday, 4 miles on Saturday). This week on Monday I started the P90X lean program. I have to say that I really do like the program (even though I am usually yelling at the guy for being mean, haha). This week I lost a pound and a half. That's pretty good since I haven't changed my eating habits (which aren't the worst... or best...). So, tomorrow I start week 2... yea!
Today was a buuuuuusy day. I finally cleaned our front porch. I've only been TALKING about doing it for about 3 weeks now. It's a good thing I picked one of the hottest days of the summer to do it, huh? Well, then I took a little break because cleaning a porch for 2 hours in hundred degree heat index took a lot out of me. Jerod and I took an hour and a half to water the garden this evening too. In between all of these fun things I have been working on a side project. I am transforming a plain white bookshelf into a beautiful blue, red, and cream book shelf! We will see how it works out.
Tomorrow is supposed to be even hotter than today so Jerod said I could spend the day crafting if I wanted.... and I want!! :) I'm excited. I think I am going to work on some fabric flowers and maybe get the foam board inserts cut out and fabric wrapped for my bookshelf project. What's super neat about the bookshelf is that I am essentially doing it for free! The bookshelf was given to me by my brother-in-law, we already had the paint, and I already had the fabric. I only spent $1.00 for the two pieces of foam board I needed. YEAH!!

Back To It!!
Oh my word!! I have not blogged in SOOO long. SO MUCH has happened in my life since I last blogged. For starters, I got MARRIED!! Jerod and I got married on May 21st and left the 22nd for our Honeymoon in Florida at Walt Disney World. We stayed there through Friday morning then caught a flight to Chicago for a Cubs game on Saturday. We had so much fun on our honeymoon. Here's a few pictures:
Since we've been back from our honeymoon we have been busy, too. We have been working on getting a lot of weeds pulled out of our landscaping. Jerod has also been very busy in our garden. All the hard work definitely pays off though. Tonight we had a pork loin that Jerod grilled that was declicious and with it we had grilled onions and zucchini from the garden. Yummy!
Jerod and I (along witha few family members and friends) completed our first Warrior Dash, as well. I have to say that even though it was EXTREMELY challenging, it has to become an annual event. I strained a muscle, cut up my knees, and suffered bruises... but most of all I actually had a great time.
Still no luck on the teaching job yet. I am still praying and holding on to hope though. We will see what happens. Keep praying with me!!
Well, I have a new endeavor that I am jumping into. It's a completely insane, idiotic, and crazy idea and it's called: P90X. We will see how it goes. I am going to look through the information for it tonight/tomorrow, take the measurements and weight, etc. and hopefully start it tomorrow or sometime this week. I'm actually kind of excited... that will probably fade less than 2 minutes into the first DVD, ha!
Hopefully I can make blogging a normal part of my life again. See you all tomorrow (hopefully!)

Good Day... Rough Run
Well, I had a very productive day. I got up and did a bunch of "regular" house work around the house. Then I spent the entire afternoon cleaning our upstairs. I haven't cleaned up there since I moved in in August 2008 and man, was it dirty!! It always feels so good to have a clean house. After Jerod got home from work we went out and did some digging in the garden. I'm telling you- I don't think I was built to use a shovel. Maybe all the push ups I am doing will give me some extra arm strength so that I can run a shovel correctly. While we were working outside, we found an unhatched robin's egg that had blown out of its nest (there was some pretty strong wind here today). Well, Jerod and I walked down to Shauna's (that's Jerod's sister for those of you who don't know) to see if she would know what to do with it. Shauna is an animal lover and probably has the knowledge of how to take care of every animal there is. Funny thing: Parker (Shauna's son) had found a robin's egg as well the day before. Well, we all weren't too sure what to do, so Jerod and I took Herbert (the name I gave to the egg) back home with us. Well, Herbert was short lived because Jerod rolled him to me very gently and Herbert busted open. I almost cried. We thought that this would be a great time to go for our runs. Since the wind was really strong like I said before, we went into town to run. What an awful run. The wind wasn't as bad, which was a blessing. But from the very beginning my legs were killing me. They continued to kill me for the next three miles until I was finished running. I ran all three miles in the twelve minute range. Now, for a reward, I'm enjoying a large mug of hot chocolate with marshmallows :)

Sometimes... life just sucks
That sums up my day so far. Apparently I made just about the worst mistake of my life 3 1/2 years ago when I decided to go to college to become a teacher. THERE ARE NO JOBS FOR TEACHERS AVAILABLE. I have applied to the four open jobs that I have stalked out on the Internet. One was in a perfect location- only about 8 miles from my house. I PERSONALLY took my resume and packet in and talked with the principal for about an hour. He wrote on my packet that I was to be called if I ever fell out of the running for that particular job. Well, application deadline was a month ago. I got advice from my fiance's parents that calling would probably be an okay thing to do. Did it this morning... The position has been filled for some time. I am so bummed. Not only did they not call me, but I didn't even get an interview. My resume and packet was apparently so un-impressive that I didn't even warrant an interview. Go me. Well, I called my fiance and told him between sobs that now I am down to the other job that I applied for recently as well. We'll see what happens.
So, after my horrible morning, it turned into a pretty horrible afternoon. I let my dog outside to potty, and when she came back up to the door she had poop smeared all over the right side of her head. Now, I have a very weak stomach for this stuff... any time that I try to clean up Sadie's puke or poop I gag. I couldn't even get near her to clean her neck off because my mouth would start watering like it does before you puke. So, I stuck her in her cage and she has stayed there for the past hour. Jerod gets home in about 30 minutes, and we'll have to tackle the never fun task of giving her a bath. Oh boy. Joy has overwhelmed me.
So, the only good thing that came from this day is that I have a clean house. When I get super upset about things I tend to do one of two things: binge eat or clean/organize. I am so thankful that I chose the second one! I've been working on cleaning and laundry all day. Jerod and I are going to lift my spirits by eating Ice Cream from Dairy Queen for supper and go watch our nephew Parker's baseball game tonight. That should be exciting... we haven't made it to a single game.
I weighed myself in this morning. Last week I lost 1.5 pounds. YEAH! I'm trying to decide still if I am going to run tonight. I kind of want to, but then again I kind of just want to relax. I'm kind of afraid that after my horrendous day that I'll get ran over by a car or something. Probably more like a semi knowing my luck.
Something cool: apparently 4 people have read my blog in Germany. Pretty neat, huh?

Oh Boy
Well, I will tell you right off that four miles did not happen today... but it's not really my fault. At .8 miles I was about to poop my pants... so I knew that going any farther than 2 was out of the questions. That is okay though because I had Thursday as my two mile day this week, so I just switched them.
Tomorrow morning I weigh in again... I'm anxious to see how I did this week!
Jerod and I were talking about our honeymoon a little bit tonight, and that has got me super excited. I really can't wait. I think one of the things I am most excited about is that I'll be Jerod's WIFE.... WIFE. Crazy to think about. Today has been one of those days where Jerod and I have just been laughing all day at stupid things. We'll tease each other and laugh our heads off. Then we'll poke each other or something along those lines and we'll laugh our heads off. Then one of us will say something... and we'll laugh our heads off. We've both just been in a goofy mood, I guess.
I worked outside in the landscaping this afternoon for about 3 hours or so. I only got a small section done, but that small section looks pretty darn awesome.
I'm thinking tomorrow might be an off day... but we'll see. UNLIKE the last off day though, I'll be doing some crunches, push ups, and oblique bends.

It's been a while..
Hola! It's been a while since I've posted a blog... Jerod and I have had a busy past few days. I have to say that unfortunately my past few days haven't included running. Good thing I didn't challenge myself to run every day for a year, haha. Jerod ran his half marathon this morning... his goal was to break 90 minutes and he did... he ran it in 89! YA! He improved his time from his first half by four minutes. Amazing! I am thinking that tonight I am going to not run since we have been up since 5:30 and I only got about 3 hours of sleep last night. But, I'll be jumping right back into it tomorrow. The past couple of times that I have ran three miles... I've been feeling like I could do more. So, maybe a four miler tomorrow or though the week? I'll keep you posted!

Day 5...Guilty Feelings
Hello! This blog is titled 'Guilty Feelings' because I feel guilty for last night. Not because I didn't run... I think that that was a smart decision. My finace (since he is doing his 365 challenge) had to run in the monsoon we were having and he told me today that that run took a lot out of him... that says a lot since he has been running since 7th grade and I haven't. I feel guilty because I didn't even do my sit-ups, push-ups, or oblique bends. Not only that, but today I feel like I should have at least popped in a workout DVD at some point in time. Oh well, we live and learn, right?
Well, today it's like 30 mph winds. Gross. I'm seriously considering either waiting until 7 p.m. to run when the wind is supposed to only be like 12 mph or going to my in-laws and using their treadmill. The dreadmill as I call it. I really hate using treadmills. As you run on your own, you automatically adjust speed according to how your body feels. So when I run a 12 minute mile, during that mile sometimes I'll run at 14:30 for a little while and 9:50 for a while, or what have you and it averages out to be a 12 minute mile. Well, on a treadmill, you have to run at that one constant speed (5.0 mph for a 12 minute mile) and it wears on you. It's not natural. Not only that but I don't know how to work the tv there so I have to stare at the little blinking dot that makes it feel like a mile takes about an hour instead of 12 minutes. Plus, I feel like a real runner when I brave the outdoor suckiness from time to time.
Okay... so for today's healthiness challenge: 2 mile run. Same strength stuff as all this week EXCEPT to *punish* myself and teach myself a lesson... 100 crunches, 20 pushups, and 100 oblique bends. That's double duty... maybe next time I don't do cardio since it's my off day... I'll remember to atleast do strengthening exercises.
Buh bye!

Day 4: And the soreness settles in
Well, I feel like an old woman today. My legs are sore to the point where it makes me want to not run today. Well, that won't be happening. First I do have some errands to run. I am taking my rings to get soldered together today!! YAY!!! That means it's getting close... which is true... only 24 more days, people! On to other good news: we think we may know what is making me break out... laundry detergent. So I'm thankful to have that figured out... NOT thankful to have to get rid of a brand new bottle of laundry detergent. BOO. Almost all of the gifts for the wedding people are here... so I will have a busy filled week next week of trying to get them all wrapped up. Last night my fiance and I actually got to work out in the yard/landscaping and plant some stuff, too. That has been uncommon for about the past week because living in Central Illinois has been nothing but rainy weather and storms for about seven days. I'm desperately trying to come up with something to eat tonight for supper... my mind keeps going back to fish tacos... so I might dig out that recipe and see if we have what it takes. Sounds yummy to me!
Well, challenge for today is the same that is has been all week: run 3 miles, crunches, situps, push ups, and oblique bends. I'm super excited about all of this. I told my fiance that running just makes me feel good. I feel healthier than I did before. And I can feel my muscles burning when I do the other exercises, which is a good sign as well... that means my body is changing. I am going to be one hot beach bod next summer in Turks and Caicos!
Alright, I gotta get some food. Hope you all have a great day!
Bye!
Well, I kind of lied. After I got home from running errands yesterday, it poured. For real. It really didn't stop raining. So, that means that I didn't get my run in. BOO. It's not a huge deal though, because I was saving my two off days this week for Friday and Saturday since Jerod and I will be in Champaign for his half marathon. So, I just switched my off day to Friday. We'll see what tomorrow brings!

Day 3... Am I sure this is a GOOD decision?
Wow. I looked at the weather for today with my fiance last night. Wind gusts up to 44 miles an hour today. Really? That really doesn't sound fun at all. Today I plan to work on things throughout the house since I'll probably get blown away if I work on stuff outside. I've been thinking about gifts lately for christmas. I think that I am going to try and make a majority of the gifts that we give people this year. Hopefully it turns out okay. As of last night, I still have hives. I'm not sure what the problem is. I know that I am really sick of having them though.
I found this really cool tool in my get healthy challenge. It's a website called www.myfitnesspal.com. It's pretty cool. It lets you decide how much weight you would like to lose, lets you log your food intake, and lets you log your exercise. Pretty neat. Speaking of getting fit... check out my fiance's blog... http://the-running-challenge.blogspot.com/2011/04/off-to-running-start.html
Okay, I'm getting hungry for some breakfast so lets look at my goals for today. I'm thinking my running goal will be between 2 and 3 miles... I don't want to choose just one since the wind is so horrible and I won't know how I feel until I get out there. The same strengthening workout as yesterday... crunches, push ups, and oblique bends.
Also, I have some crafts that I would like to get put up on Etsy... so I am making a week-long goal of getting these items up on my Etsy shop. I put two tutus up last night and one got no views, boo, but the other got seven views and someone put it in their favorite items list. Pretty cool, huh! Alright, I'm getting some breakfast.
OH... and be proud of me guys... I threw away, yes... THREW AWAY... the remaining puppy chow yesterday. GO ME!!!
Adios
Well, I have done well today. I decided after watching the wind all day to postpone my run until this evening. I departed around 7 and ran 3 miles in 37:54. According to my Garmin watch, I burned 404 calories while running. My splits were 12:53, 13:10 (a solid half mile of this was into the wind), and 11:51. I also did 50 crunches, 10 push ups, and 50 oblique bends with 6 pounds.
According to myfitnesspal, if I keep up the good work I'll lose about 5 pounds in five weeks. We'll see if things go as planned. I was worried about not running during our honeymoon but since my soon-to-be-hubby is challenging himself to 365 days of running, that shouldn't be a problem. When he runs, I'll run. That was some pretty good news. Again, you should definitely check out my lovebug's blog here: http://the-running-challenge.blogspot.com/2011/04/off-to-running-start.html
Well, it's time to shower and then relax. I'm thinking about kicking back and reading some of the book I'm working on. I'm currently reading James Patterson's The Murder of King Tut. It's a pretty good read so far. Day 3...SUCCESS!
Check ya later!

Day 2... Why Am I Doing This?
Good morning! Well, what a day yesterday and today. I have had a rash for both days and have been taking Benadryl. Benadryl just so happens to pretty much put me in a coma. I just feel like a walking zombie. I guess today so far hasn't been as bad as yesterday though because I only took one. I took two of them yesterday and pretty much ALL DAY I felt like I was in a daze. Well, hopefully these hives will disappear sometime soon. I don't want to be itchy for my wedding.
Alright. So I'm supposed to give an idea of what I want to accomplish today. I don't think I'm going to do a to-do list like vacuum, dishes, dust, etc. I think I am just going to hit the MAIN things that I really want to get done... like projects. For today, I really need to get out and run 3 miles. I was such a zombie yesterday that I didn't run. So, sometime today I need to run 3 miles. Running. Some people find it to be therapy and others find it to be punishment. I see it as both ways. It feels like therapy on most good days. On the days where every step feels painful I feel like I'm being punished. I have a weight problem... not a HUGE one or anything where I'm like 600 pounds overweight. I just am about 20 pounds heavier than what I would like to be. I have been saying for over a year now that I am going to lose weight... but I just never get it done. I run but I don't watch what I eat on most days. That needs to change because I am sick of being one of those people that always talks the talk but never walks the walk. I am taking a trip with my husband and in-laws in about a year and some odd months to Turks & Caicos... so that is plenty of time to lose at least SOME weight. It's just getting my focus set on it. But, I can do it. I need to get some muscle work in today too. I'd like to do three different sets of crunches, some push-ups, and some love-handle repetitions. As much as I hate to say it, I think I'm just kind of lazy. It's easier to sit and be lazy and just complain about being overweight than it is to actually work out. But this HAS got to stop. I have to start losing weight or I am just going to keep getting bigger and bigger... then one day I will be 100 pounds or so overweight and I don't want that at all. So... after this big long huge paragraph I have one project today so far: exercise.
I have been sitting here thinking about how many projects I should start and I think right now just one is enough. I think for this month I am going to concentrate on fitness. That is exercising, eating healthily, and making good choices concerning my health, body, etc. So today is running 3 miles and strength stuff. Hopefully this is a good idea. I guess I will check back in with this before bed and let everyone (anyone?) know how today went. Technically I am off to a bad start because my breakfast was puppy chow... but that doesn't mean that the rest of my day is going to suck... because I'm not going to let it.

Okay. Part two of this blog is going to be short. Still have hives, still taking Benadryl, thus, still feeling like a zombie. Today I did great on my project. I ran all three miles today and I did all the strenth training that I wanted to. I didn't do bad for meals either. I had left over chili mac with cornbread for lunch. A mini box of nerds for a snack in the afternoon, and left over japanese food for supper. Overall, day 2 of project weight loss is doing great. Sorry that this is so short. Goodnight all.
Running. First Impressions
Hello! Welcome to my blog. I've never done anything like this before... but I thought it sounded fun. I was inspired by a few glimpses of a movie called Julie & Julia. This woman starts a blog to cook every recipe in Julia Child's cookbook. Well, I was kind of inspired by it. I'm not sure what all I'm going to blog about yet... but we'll figure that out along the way.
A little bit about me would probably be a good start, I'm sure. I'm 22 and just graduated from college to be a teacher. I'm job hunting at this time. I am getting married on May 21st and keep busy with wedding planning. I keep myself busy these days with working on landscaping, crafts, scrapbooking, sewing, and other fun stuff. I have a wonderful soon-to-be husband named Jerod. He's pretty much amazing and I cannot imagine life without him. We have a dog named Sadie who is quite the handful. A few months ago Jerod and I and some of our friends and relatives signed up to run the Warrior Dash. So I've been training for that. I do like to run but sometimes the energy level just really isn't there.
I'm looking for a project to start to last a length of time. Kind of like that Julie/Julia project. I've been throwing some ideas around in my head. One idea was running every day for a year... the only problem with that is when Jerod and I go on our honeymoon, I'm not sure if I'll make the time to run. I had the idea of doing a cookbook challenge, but I'd like to at least be original about the project. I've been working on crafty items, but I don't have a job to support the materials needed quite yet, so it's slow going as well. I'm wanting the project to be some type of healthy thing. I've thought about going vegetarian since it's something I've wanted to do since as long as I can remember, but it's hard to do that when Jerod isn't a vegetarian because it causes us to make more than one meal when we eat. I'm thinking that I need to start off with a SMALL project to begin with (baby steps, right?). Still thinking. I think I've got it... I think the first small challenge/project I am going to do is this blog. For 30 days I am going to blog every day- twice a day. Once when I get up and once when I go to bed. In the morning I will give a general idea of my tasks for a day... then I will see what I actually completed. Maybe when I have an actual month-long look at what I do in a month, I'll know where to go from there.
On second thought, better make it a little less than a month. How about from today's date (with only one blog, obviously) until May 20th (the day before I get married). Then, I'll take a short recess from May 21-30 (wedding and honeymoon) and meet everyone (hopefully I'll have some readers by then) back to discuss my new project. Hopefully it sounds like a plan!! Now... all I need to do is see if I can do some sort of countdown on here.
Wish me luck. Goodnight!
